Description

Tasting notes and characteristics of Château Canon Pécresse 2025

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a beautiful ruby-hued robe, delicately enhanced by garnet reflections.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex and superb, immediately offering hints of iodine, graphite and pencil lead. Upon aeration, rich aromas of intense red fruits intertwine with touches of liquorice, cola and subtle peppery notes.

Palate
The attack is clean and gives way to a juicy, fluid matter of great clarity. Perfectly balanced, this wine stands out for its mineral freshness and elegance, supported by refined, fine and silky tannins that lend it an assertive structure and an elegant finish.

Food and wine pairings
This cuvée will pair wonderfully with traditional dishes in sauce, such as a savoury beef daube, whose richness will perfectly match the structure and generosity of the wine.

Serving and cellaring
Endowed with excellent ageing potential, this Château Canon Pécresse 2025 will flourish in the cellar and can be enjoyed until at least 2037.

The mineral elegance of a Canon-Fronsac wine

The estate
Acquired in 1947 by Jean-Marie Pécresse, Château Canon Pécresse is a 2.3-hectare estate located some forty kilometres from Bordeaux. Historically run by Jean-Francis Pécresse, the property was recently acquired by the Labrune family, also owners of Château de La Dauphine. Standing out for its environmental commitment, the estate has established itself as an essential benchmark, producing wines that express all the richness of their terroir.

The vineyard
The vineyard extends over one of the finest terroirs of the Canon-Fronsac appellation. Ideally situated on the highest limestone plateau in the area, overlooking the meanders of the Dordogne, the vines benefit from an exceptional clay-limestone soil resting on starfish limestone. This well-ventilated terroir is planted at a density of 5,800 vines per hectare, with vines averaging 30 years of age. Keen to preserve the natural balance of the plant and the soils, the estate has been certified organic since 2020 and farms all of its plots biodynamically.

Vinification and ageing
The harvest of this Château Canon Pécresse 2025 was carried out by hand between 15 and 18 September. The berries undergo meticulous sorting via a densimetric bath in order to retain only the finest grapes. The wine then benefits from a careful 12-month ageing, divided between barrels and large casks. Alcohol content: 14% vol.

Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
