Château Beauregard 2023

Open, red‑fruited, sour cherry, charred wood; fresh palate, delicate fruit, fine‑grained tannins, showing elegance, drive and a fresh, saline finish. Once again impresses with finesse rather than power.

Really ripe and aromatic nose, so floral and fragranced — highly charged and perfumed. Strong and full on the palate, quite ripe, a little tight, with lots of tense tannins and touches of toasted oak just restraining the final flavour and overall expression. Not so charming, very linear and strict, but there’s also purity and detail with a core of deep black fruit.

Deep merlot fruit aromas with a chalky, lightly peppery edge. Plush yet quite restrained. Well judged and precise, with ripe, juicy fruit and fine, satiny tannins that are polished yet tense and cohesive. Medium- to full-bodied with an elegant finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Clos Beauregard is a very pretty Pomerol from vines on sandy soils. Macerated cherry, tobacco, new leather and cedar fill out the layers. This is a very good wine that pushes the limits of what is possible in Pomerol's southern sector.

Opening with a strong floral note before you find spearmint, cherries, plums, and truffles in the nose. The wine is fresh, but not overtly so, with loads of soft, vibrant, polished, dark red pit fruits, along with touches of orange rind, espresso, and cocoa on the backend. Give this just a few years, and it will be fully ready-to-go. The wine blends 74% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2027-2042.

Dark ruby, deep core, purple reflections, brightening on the edge. Fresh cherries, nuances of plums, candied orange zest, floral touch. Medium body, balanced, red-berry fruit, fine tannins, good freshness, nougat on the finish, good ageing potential.

74% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, pH 3.8, 43 hl/ha, 13.5% vol. Seductive blueberry bouquet, elegant violet perfume, graphite and blueberry drops. On the complex palate, a silky texture, tightly knit tannin framework and a straight, focused body. Concentrated finish with freshly picked blue berries, dark minerality and fine-grained astringency.

Again, this majors on fairly heavy coffee notes on the opening, but there is also a creamy character to the black fruits, with edges of roses that lift the palate on the finish and add Pomerol typicity.

Beauregard’s bouquet comes through with authenticity, offering the charm and elegance it has long been known for, yet with greater precision. Delicate nuances of dark berries mingle with notes of juniper, followed by a spicy touch. Creamy on the attack, the wine unfolds along a silky path—elegant, alluring, well-structured and focused. The suave tannins provide a fine foundation, ensuring both poise and energy. A captivating, savoury Beauregard that still needs time to fully blossom. Time will soften the edges; the wine has the substance required for it.

Warmed kirsch and blackberry paste flavors meld nicely with hints of apple wood, licorice snap and black tea. There’s a buried tug of iron, but the finish still comes off as silky in feel. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2027 through 2038. 1,500 cases made, 220 cases imported.

A blend of 74% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in 40% new French oak with 20% in 500-liter barrels, the 2023 Château Beauregard is a beautiful Pomerol offering ripe red and black fruits, flowers, spicy wood, and subtle underbrush and tobacco nuances. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, layered mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and no hard edges. I love it even today, yet it's going to benefit from just a few years of bottle age and keep for 15 years or more. Drink 2029-2043.

Logo on the cork: A in a circle (Amorim) Dark color, with normal intensity. A lovely nose, very aromatic and smooth, with appealing ripe fruit notes. Full-bodied on the attack, full-bodied through the mid-palate, very pleasant, with a nicely precise fruit flavor and a creamy touch; the wine finishes with persistence without showing tannin. Instantly charming.
