An Italian sparkling wine from the great terroirs of Lombardy

The estate

Founded in 1964 by Albano Zanella and Annamaria Clementi near Erbusco in Lombardy, Ca' del Bosco quickly became a pioneer of the Franciacorta appellation. Starting in the 1970s, Maurizio Zanella developed high-density vineyards, a first in Italy. Now owned by the Zanella family, the estate stands out for its underground cellars and a minimum two-year lees aging. As the only estate ranked among the world's best, Ca' del Bosco was awarded the title of Best European Winery in 2023.

The vineyard

Cuvée Prestige Edizione 47 Extra Brut is crafted from 240 plots spread across the communes of Erbusco, Adro, Cazzago San Martino, Corte Franca, Iseo, Passirano, and Provaglio d'Iseo at the heart of the Franciacorta appellation. The chardonnay vines, averaging 26 years old, cover 180 plots, while the 8 plots of pinot blanc average 31 years of age. The 52 plots of pinot noir, younger at an average of 20 years, complete this blend of exceptional terroirs.

This cuvée is the result of a multi-vintage blend made up of 77% wines from the 2022 vintage, enriched with 18% reserve wines from 2021 and 5% reserve wines from 2020. This approach brings complexity and consistency to the aromatic profile while preserving the freshness of the main vintage.

Winemaking and aging

Manual harvesting in small crates is followed by a rigorous selection of the grape bunches. After passing through soaking tanks and a drying tunnel, the grapes are pressed without oxygen. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 7 months of maturation until March. The blend is then aged on lees for an average of 25 months before disgorgement without oxygen and without the addition of sulfites.

This Cuvée Prestige Edizione 47 Extra Brut from Ca' del Bosco is a blend of chardonnay (75%), pinot noir (22.5%), and pinot blanc (2.5%).
