Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of the A Lisa Malbec 2024 by Bodega Noemia
Tasting notes
Appearance
A dense colour revealing beautiful plum and violet hues.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is complex, offering notes of black fruits and ripe cherries, underscored by a fine minerality, with touches of cocoa, dried flowers and manuka honey.
Palate
This medium-bodied wine displays an excellent structure. The palate is dominated by flavours of cherry and blackcurrant, accompanied by silky, balanced and persistent tannins. The finish lingers at length on fruity and mineral nuances.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with red meats, poultry, veal or game. It also goes perfectly with herb-crusted lamb, mushroom-based dishes, mature cheeses, as well as seafood such as oysters or mussels.
The richness and elegance of a Patagonian wine crafted by Bodega Noemia
The estate
Officially founded with the 2001 harvest, the Bodega Noemia brand is located in the Rio Negro Valley, in Argentine Patagonia. Born from the partnership between Italian countess Noemi Marone Cinzano and winemaker Hans Vinding-Diers, the estate came into being following the discovery and restoration of an old Malbec vineyard planted in 1932. Since 2018, Hans Vinding-Diers has been the sole owner and manager of the estate. Working according to organic and biodynamic principles, the estate stands out for its commitment to producing elegant terroir-driven wines, far removed from industrial standards, in an extreme climate.
The vineyard
Located in the village of Mainque, within the Alto Valle del Rio Negro appellation, this terroir lies at a latitude of 39° South. The old, pre-phylloxera vines flourish on alluvial soils formed by an ancient dried-up riverbed. The vineyard benefits from a flood irrigation system.
The vintage
Winter was marked by cold, rain and snow in the Andes, allowing solid water reserves to be built up. A few spring frosts occurred without causing major damage. The summer proved cool, with cold nights up until veraison, leading to a later harvest than in previous years.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes for the A Lisa Malbec 2024 are hand-harvested in 12 kg crates, then fully destemmed. Fermentation is initiated by indigenous yeasts isolated locally and freeze-dried by a Danish laboratory. It lasts ten days on whole berries, followed by an early pressing to gently extract the tannins. After malolactic fermentation in vats, the wine is aged for eight months: 15% in old French barrels and 85% in stainless steel vats. It is then filtered and bottled in January 2025.
Grape varieties
90% Malbec, 9% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc.
