Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Blanton's Single Barrel #479 Rubis
Tasting
Appearance
Ruby colour.
Nose
Rich, full-bodied nose. At first, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) mingle with buttery, liqueur-like notes of rock candy. With aeration, the bouquet opens onto exotic notes (ripe mango, roasted pineapple), empyreumatic notes (apricot kernel), camphorous and medicinal notes (Tiger Balm), and balsamic notes (emery cloth).
Palate
Ample, dense palate. It opens with a fine layer of salted butter caramel and very pure cinnamon. It evolves towards tertiary notes (chestnut, pecan), powdery notes (cocoa, ginger) and grain notes (corn). Red and black fruits (strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, blackcurrant) bring a crisp end to the palate. The nuanced, elevated finish unfolds heady notes (geranium, iris), honeyed notes (fir, linden), herbaceous notes (freshly cut hay, alfalfa) and spicy notes (paprika). It is lifted by citrus zests (orange, lemon) and infusions (cardamom tea, chamomile). Sandalwood, pipe tobacco and saffron accompany a grainy retronasal finish (corn, rye).

An Intense, Precise and Complex Kentucky Bourbon
Blanton's, a Kentucky bourbon (United States) distilled at Buffalo Trace
Blanton's is a Kentucky (United States) whisky brand. Launched in 1984, it was the first bourbon to be bottled from a single barrel. It is named after Colonel Blanton, who ran the distillery from 1912. It is produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, billed as the oldest continuously operating distillery in the United States. The distillery has belonged since 1992 to Sazerac Company, a privately held, family-owned American business. The barrels age in Warehouse H, the only metal-framed warehouse on the site, where temperature variations accentuate maturation. The brand's profile evokes grains, spices, candied fruits, citrus and flowers. The stopper, topped with a horse and jockey, is its visual signature.
