The Estate
Formally recognised as early as 1868, Château La Pointe is a historic estate in the Bordeaux region of France. It takes its name from the distinctive triangular shape of its single-block vineyard, a rarity within the appellation. Acquired in 2007 by its current owner, Generali France, the estate is now managed by Éric Monneret. With 22 hectares under vine, it is one of the largest estates in Pomerol, combining a rich architectural heritage with a deep commitment to showcasing its terroir.

The Vineyard
Located on the slope descending from the Trotanoy terrace, the vineyard covers approximately 22 hectares in a single block, an exceptional configuration for the Pomerol appellation. The vines are around 35 years old on average and are planted at densities ranging from 6,300 to 7,600 vines per hectare. This remarkable terroir is divided into three distinct geological profiles: areas of gravel and pebbles, high-quality clay-gravel soils, and sandier zones lying over clay or gravel.

The Vintage
In the Bordeaux region, observers generally describe 1997 as an average vintage. The weather conditions that year produced wines that reflect the characteristics of their appellation, though without reaching the concentration of the most exceptional years.

Grape Varieties
This red wine is made from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, reflecting the estate's traditional varietal mix, in which the former is clearly dominant.
