2014 Margaux, Cru Bourgeois from Bordeaux
Summer 2014 was challenging. Indeed, it was marked by a lot of rain, a fresh climate but it also enjoyed a beautiful, long, and highly expected Indian summer. The high temperatures and the drought were necessary in order to obtain an optimum ripeness of the grapes, as well as the tannic mass and aromatic expression of this Margaux. The 2014 Margaux Château d'Arsac is straightforward, serious, and skilfully produced. This wine seduces by its intense colour, its vibrant fruit (fresh black fruits) and its depth on the palate.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2014 D'Arsac has a pleasant raspberry and briary-scented bouquet, nicely defined with fine mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin, a little oakier than I expected with a slightly savory, grippy finish that lingers in the mouth. Robust for a Margaux although it does possess good depth, I would keep this a year in bottle. Tasted September 2016.
