2004 Champagne Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Meunier
This champagne reveals a bright and shiny golden hue. The fine bubbles form a slowly dissipating line of small pearls. The 2004 Vintage reveals an elegant bouquet opening on crunchy, fresh, fruit aromas (vine peach and citrus) with hints of mineral from the vineyard limestone soil. This champagne exudes notes of violet and lilac gradually replaced by bread scents: hazelnut, quince paste, and fresh. The attack is impeccable on the palate. The 2004 Vintage is generously fresh. The Pinot Noir increases the intensity of this wine for more body: tense and very lively.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The dominantly tart apple character of Clicquot's 2004 Brut makes for a piquant and invigorating if somewhat raw overall impression, incorporating as well overt yeastiness and hints of almond, apple pip, and lemon rind. Insofar as there are impressions here that I would deem "mineral," these are a faintly sweaty and slightly metallic note in the finish, which manage to fit the wine's brash personality. I don't fancy this gaining from bottle age, though I readily confess my lack of experience with older representatives.
