Exclusively created from Chardonnay, the 2003 Amour de Deutz is characterized by a good aromatic richness inherited from a sunny vintage. Its crystal-clear golden robe seduces. It has a fine effervescence. This Champagne nose is subtle and delicate. It gives off notes of linden-tree, honeysuckle but also enjoyable yellow peach and fresh almond aromas. On the palate, 2003 Amour de Deutz is supple and harmonious. It reveals a great intensity as well as a rich texture, enhanced by baked apple and mirabelle scents. The finish is nice and long, strengthening the impression of fullness.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2003 Brut Millesime Amour de Deutz is an intriguing wine. It is a decidedly rich Amour de Deutz, yet all of the wine's signature elements are in place. The 2003 has slightly less aromatic nuance than the 2000 I tasted last year, but also quite a bit more fruit. Most fascinating of all is that the extreme qualities of the 2003 harvest are nowhere to be found. Bright hints of lemon, pears, pastry, white flowers and mint are beautifully woven together. This is a round, sensual Champagne that can be enjoyed now or cellared. Today it is firing on all cylinders, even if it is very young. The 2003 Amour de Deutz is 100% Chardonnay from Avize (50%), Le Mesnil (45%) and Villers Marmery (5%). This is Lot LA107D06011. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.
