The Estate
Founded in 1692, Taylor's remains one of the oldest and most prestigious Port houses, located in Portugal's Douro region. This independent family estate is exclusively dedicated to producing Port using traditional methods, utilizing terraced vineyards on the steep slopes of the Duriense. Owned by the Fladgate Partnership family business, Taylor's stands out for its historic quintas (Vargellas, Terra Feita) and its oak barrel aging techniques. The house produces exceptional vintage cuvées and tawny Ports aged up to 50 years, embodying the excellence and authenticity of traditional Portuguese Port.
The Vineyard
The Paço de Palmeira estate spans 24 hectares between the Cávado and Homem rivers, near Braga in the Minho region. Benefiting from an Atlantic influence, the vines thrive on granite soils in a low-lying depression. Half of the vineyard is planted at high density to encourage deep rooting and optimize photosynthesis.
The Wine
This Royal Palmeira Eminência Loureiro 2015 is a Vinho Verde produced from vineyards in the Braga wine region.
Winemaking and Aging
After selecting the most concentrated grapes, a lightly chilled pre-fermentation maceration is followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation begins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before finishing in very old French oak barrels over 10 years old. After six months of bâtonnage and partial malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 12 months before being transferred to tanks for clarification and bottling, then benefits from several years of bottle aging.
