Description
A limited edition Vintage Port by Taylor’s, made from a blend of 50-year-old Port wines
The estate
Founded in 1692 by Job Bearsley, Taylor's is one of the oldest and well-respected Port houses. It is a symbol of the ancestral know-how that has been passed down from one generation to another. Since its inception over three centuries ago, Taylor's has never left the family fold and has remained independently-owned. With vineyards located in the Douro Valley, this icon Portuguese winemaking reference successfully carries out the entire process of making its Port wines, from the vineyard to the cellar. Infamous for its exceptional wines, the estate has built a solid reputation for its Vintage Ports.
The vineyard
This Golden Age 50 Year Very Old Tawny Port by Taylor's stems from grapes grown on fine terroirs in the eastern Douro Valley. This winegrowing area is historically recognised as being the birthplace of the finest vintage Ports.
Produced in very limited quantities, this grand cuvée comprises a blend of rare Ports that have aged for fifty years in oak barrels, meticulously selected by the house's team of expert coopers. The 50-year ageing period provides this exceptional wine with a mature and balanced expression that harmoniously blends a smooth and very pleasant density.

The tasting
Colour
This Port showcases a beautiful chestnut colour. The core has coppery hues, but the rim is subtly golden.
Nose
The nose elegantly blends rich rum and raisin and clove fragrances with notes of nutmeg and a hint of coarse black pepper.
Palate
The palate opens up to a complex aromatic palette with prunes, quince and apricots, the ensemble is enhanced by the refreshing acidity of lemon and orange peel. Throughout the tasting experience, the palate becomes more complex with fruity notes (browned pineapple, passion fruit, lychee), toasted coconut, almonds and butterscotch. Enfolding, the palate seduces with its texture and fullness that leads to a fresh and balanced finish.
