Tasting

Beautiful old gold hue with olive highlights.
Nose
The bouquet reveals remarkable complexity with intense aromas of dried fruits, honey and spices. They mingle with notes of nutmeg, roasted coffee and an intense expression of hazelnut, complemented by hints of toasted almond characteristic of great Tawnys.
Palate
The texture is rich, intense and voluptuous. The dense and concentrated palate offers deep and luscious flavors, supported by an exceptionally long finish.
Pairing and Serving Suggestions
This exceptional Porto pairs perfectly with desserts featuring figs, almonds and caramel, as well as with crème brûlée and wild strawberries. It can also be enjoyed on its own at the end of a meal, served with nuts or dried fruits. Serve slightly chilled between 12°C and 16°C.
Other Characteristics
Once opened, this Porto retains its freshness for nearly two months. Store upright, away from light and at a constant temperature. No decanting is necessary.
A Great Vintage Porto by Taylor's
Taylor's, a Historic Duriense House
Founded in 1692 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Taylor's remains one of the oldest independent family-owned Porto houses. This historic estate owns three prestigious vineyards in the Douro Valley: Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta do Junco, which form the foundation of its house style. Taylor's stands out for its traditional oak barrel ageing methods in its cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, benefiting from the cool, humid coastal climate that promotes a slow and delicate maturation. The house produces exceptional cuvées such as its 40 Year Old Tawny, a rare Blend of selected red Portos, acclaimed worldwide by specialist critics.
The 40 Year Old Tawny, an Exceptional Blend
Taylor's 40 Year Old Tawny represents one of the house's rarest Blends. Crafted from Portos selected from the eastern Douro Valley, this nectar matures for four decades in seasoned oak barrels within the Vila Nova de Gaia cellars. The cool, humid coastal climate encourages a slow and delicate ageing process, allowing the development of complex aromas of nuts and spices. Produced in limited quantities, this Porto enjoys exceptional international recognition, confirming its status as a benchmark among top-aged Tawnys.
