The Estate
Created in 1999 by Susana Balbo, the first female oenologist in Argentina, graduated in 1981, this family estate in Mendoza spans two properties in Agrelo and Gualtallary. Today led by Susana Balbo with her children José and Ana Lovaglio and oenologist Edgardo Del Popolo, the estate produces red wines, white wines, rosés, and sparkling wines. A pioneer of modern torrontes and inducted into the Decanter Hall of Fame, Susana Balbo revolutionized Argentine viticulture.
The Vineyard
This Argentinian wine comes exclusively from the vineyards of Paraje Altamira, located in the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The vines flourish at an average altitude of 1,150 meters, benefiting from an exceptional terroir that imparts torrontes with a unique expression and remarkable complexity.
Winemaking and aging
After manual harvest, the grapes of Signature Barrel Fermented Torrontes 2024 are cooled to 6°C and then destemmed. A two-hour maceration precedes a low-pressure pressing. Fermentation is carried out in new French oak barrels with selected yeasts. Aging takes place entirely in French oak barrels for six months, accompanied by weekly lees stirring.
