Description
An exceptional Calvados at the crossroads of the expertise of Michel Couvreur and Michel Huard
The House of Michel Couvreur: the art of maturation in Burgundy
Founded by a Belgian with a passion for wine and whisky, Michel Couvreur has established itself as an essential reference in the world of spirits in France. Based in Bouze-lès-Beaune in Burgundy, the company stands out for its unique philosophy: the art of "élevage". Believing that the cask shapes the very essence of a spirit's identity, the house excels in maturation within its spectacular underground cellars, favouring old Sherry casks. Today, following the founder's death in 2013, the estate is run by his wife Marthe Couvreur, his daughter Alexandra Couvreur-Deschamps, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and cellar master Jean-Arnaud Frantzen. Although renowned for its whiskies with Burgundian and Scottish accents, the house is exploring other horizons, such as Calvados, illustrating its ability to elevate a variety of distillates thanks to its unrivalled expertise in wood and time.
The Michel Huard Casks 849 & 852 2026 limited edition: an unprecedented encounter
The fruit of a prestigious collaboration, the Michel Huard Casks 849 & 852 2026 Limited Edition spirit illustrates the meeting of two demanding artisanal visions. On one side, the House of Michel Couvreur, a master in the art of maturation; on the other, the Michel Huard estate, a historic producer based in Suisse Normande for seven generations. This family estate cultivates around thirty varieties of apples in standard orchards and specialises in distilling cider eaux-de-vie of the very highest quality.
This limited edition stands out for the specific mention of casks numbered 849 and 852, underscoring the importance both houses place on the individualisation of each cask and the rigorous selection of their vessels. This authentic and rare Calvados reflects a subtle exchange of skills around wood, time and maturation, offering enthusiasts a singular expression of the appellation.
