Description
A Burgundy Grand Cru white wine imbued with elegance and liveliness
The estate
Founded in 1859, the Louis Jadot House has established itself as a major reference in Burgundy. The story begins in 1826 with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules". Owner of prestigious vineyards, Louis Jadot perpetuates a know-how passed down from generation to generation, thus offering the best of Burgundy to enthusiasts around the world.
Since September 2022, Thomas Seiter (formerly Bouchard Père et Fils) has been the president of the house, while Thibault Gagey holds the position of general manager, succeeding Pierre-Henry Gagey.
The vineyard
The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot comes from a vineyard located in Aloxe-Corton. On a 1.88-hectare plot, the "Pougets" climate benefits from a full southern exposure and rests on brown limestone soils, with subsoils rich in limestone marl.
Vinification and aging
Harvesting is done manually at optimal maturity: the grapes are transported in small crates to preserve their integrity, then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in barrels from the Louis Jadot cooperage, followed by 18 months of aging, one-third of which is in new barrels.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
