A Beaune Premier Cru combining structure and finesse

The estate

Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot House ranks among the most prestigious négociant houses in Burgundy. Now led by Thomas Seiter as president and Thibault Gagey as managing director, the estate manages approximately 225 to 270 hectares of vines across the finest Burgundy appellations. Since 1985, the house has been owned by the Kopf family. Louis Jadot stands out for its commitment to organic farming, with certification initiated in 2021 across 115 hectares, and for its distinctive label adorned with the head of Bacchus that graces its entire range. The house is renowned for its ability to produce wines that faithfully express their terroir at every quality level.

The vineyard

The Clos des Ursules is a historic monopole of the Louis Jadot House, acquired by the family in 1826. This walled vineyard is located within the Beaune 1er Cru Vignes Franches appellation, on the southern part of the Beaune vineyard, between Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pommard. The terroir benefits from a southeast exposure and occupies a mid-slope position at an altitude of between 240 and 260 meters. The clay-limestone soils enriched with fine gravel give the wine a mineral structure reminiscent of the Côte de Nuits terroirs. The plot is made up of two distinct sections: the upper part planted in 1963 and the lower part planted in 1975, together representing just over 2 hectares.

The vintage

The 2010 vintage in Burgundy is considered an outstanding year. The growing season was marked by difficult flowering conditions that limited yields, thereby concentrating phenolic compounds and sugars in the berries. Despite high alcohol levels, the wines retained surprising freshness and a rare balance. The reds display silky tannic structure combined with aromatic intensity and fruit concentration that ensure excellent aging potential.

Winemaking and aging

The Beaune 1er cru "Clos des Ursules" Monopole Héritiers Louis Jadot 2010 is vinified using traditional methods that prioritize respect for the terroir. Slow fermentations and extended aging protocols reflect the House's philosophy under the technical direction of Frédéric Barnier. Aging takes place in oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop its complexity while preserving the fruit expression and the tannic finesse characteristic of the climat.
