The estate
Founded in 1923 in Burgundy, La Chablisienne is the largest producer of Chablis wines and one of the most renowned winemaking cooperative in France.
The vineyard
La Chablisienne's Chablis 1er Cru "Fourchaume" is a Chablis wine made from vines that are 25 years old on average. This wine benefits from a terroir that perfectly characterises its appellation. The soils and subsoils are composed of middle and upper Kimmeridgian, with alternating limestone and marl with Exogyra Virgula.
Vinification and ageing
This Chablis 1er cru is aged for 12 months on fine lees, in vats and barrels.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
The tasting
Colour
This wine reveals a golden hue.
Nose
The fresh and mineral nose blends fruity fragrances (white orchard fruits) and subtle vanilla notes.
Palate
The ample and persistent palate is seduced by notes of white fruit, stretching to a fine minerality and perfectly balanced finish.
The 2014 Chablis 1Er Cru Fourchaume has a Zen-like, clean and fresh, slate-scented bouquet that draws you in. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a lovely saline undertow, subtle at first and then flourishing towards the bravura finish with copious citrus fruit and plenty of spice. There is a lot going on in this Chablis and it should age with style.
