Prieuré de Montezargues owns a 34 hectares single-region vineyard in AOP Tavel. It is planted on a sandy soil covered by the famous Rhone Valley round pebbles. The 2014 Tavel of Prieure de Montezargues is a blend of 55% Grenache Noir and Blanc, 30% Cinsault, 13% Clairette and 2% Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan and Bourboulenc.
This rosé wine exhibits a beautiful clear and bright pink colour with a bluish tinge. It is frank on the nose and is accompanied by very aromatic red berry notes, such as strawberry and raspberry. On the palate, the fresh and balanced 2014 Tavel shows good combination between roundness and finesse. On finish, one can find small red berry notes that echo the nose. The 2014 Tavel rosé wine is a wine of great elegance.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
A more lively and fresh style of Tavel, Prieure de Montezargues' 2014 Tavel is an interesting blend of 55% red and white Grenache, 30% Cinsalt, 13% Clairette and the rest a mix of permitted varieties, that spent 5 months on lees in concrete tanks. It offers fabulous raspberry and wild strawberry fruits, spice and hints of underbrush to go with a medium-bodied, balanced, lively feel on the palate. This is pure class all the way, and it has a great mix of both freshness and richness, both of which will allow it to shine on the dinner table. It should be at peak by the time you read this, yet continue to shine through the end of 2016.
