Description
RWT 2013 from Penfolds : a balanced, whole and persistant wine from the Barossa Valley
A Shiraz red wine produced in the Barossa Valley appellation, the RWT 2013 from Penfolds is aged for 17 months in French oak hogsheads barrels, 57% in new barrels and 43% in barrels of one previous wine.
At tasting, the RWT 2013 from Penfolds presents a deep red colour. The nose releases primary aromas of mulberry and Boysen blackberry, before offering subtle notes of peat and Moroccan spices combined with notes of malt and mustard seeds. The nose also offers fragrances of hazelnuts, cedar oak, freshly frozen figs and just cooked brandy snap. On the palate, the RWT 2013 reveals tasty touches of cranberries and blueberries that blend elegantly with a well-integrated woodiness. The pronounced tannins blend pleasantly with the fruity flavours of the Barossa. A balanced wine, complete with a beautiful aromatic persistence.
