Château Latour 1989

A Pauillac red wine with tannins of great class

A 1st Growth Classified in 1855, Château Latour is a red wine produced in the Pauillac appellation. The vines benefit from a terroir that is very characteristic of the appellation. The harvest of the 1989 vintage was the earliest since that of 1893. The climate was ideal, with bud burst occurring on March 27^th for the Merlot, flowering on May 29^th and a beautifully dry summer that accelerated the ripening of the grapes. The blend of the 1989 vintage consists of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

At tasting, the Château Latour 1989 reveals a dark red colour, intense and evolved. The bouquet offers aromas of great complexity, combining fruits, cedar and a subtle animal touch. The attack on the palate is aromatic, then the wine becomes ample, fat and fruity. The presence of tannins is noticeable but they are not aggressive in the least, offering instead a great finesse.
