A red wine from Mercurey 1er Cru with a complex palate
The Mercurey 1er Cru "Les Cinq" from Château de Chamirey results from a blend (kept in 228-liter Burgundy barrels) of grapes from the best parcels of the five red Mercurey 1ers crus in the field. These are planted on clayey-calcareous, predominantly clayey, soils. This single-varietal Pinot Noir red wine is aged in oak barrels (80% of which are new) for 15 months.
At tasting, the Mercurey 1er Cru "Les Cinq" 2015 of Château de Chamirey displays a pretty dark ruby-garnet colour. Rather discreet, the nose reveals subtle woody notes. The wine then shows complexity on the palate, offering a very dense tannic structure. This wine of great ageing potential is ideal to consume before 2024-2026.
