Description

The complexity and refinement of a McLaren Vale red wine by Two Hands

The producer

Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz founded Two Hands in 1999. Their goal being to produce wines that highlight the nuances and aromatic potential of fine Australian wines.

The vineyard

Spread across six different regions, Two Hands' vineyards produce wines that magnify the potential and nuances of each terroir. Each plot is managed independently, from harvesting, through to fermentation, oak ageing and bottling, in order to allow the wine to express its full character and identity. Since its creation, Two Hands has been committed to producing organic wines. "Quality without compromise" is the core value of this visionary company, be it in the way they make their wines or in their choice of names and labels.

The wine

Angels' Share 2018 by Two Hands is made from vineyards in McLaren Vale.

The vinification and ageing

Following harvest, the grapes are crushed. Fermentation is accompanied by daily pumping over to ensure optimum extraction. Following a 15-day contact period with the skins, the wine is pressed. After 24 hours, the wine is racked into barrels before malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in barrels for 14 months, 12% in new American oak barrels and the remainder in 1 to 8 year-old American and French oak barrels.

The blend

Angels' Share 2018 by Two Hands is a 100% Shiraz.

The tasting

Colour

Brilliant, deep red colour with bright purple hues.

Nose

The nose combines fruity (blueberries) and floral (dried violet petals) fragrances with subtle spicy and woody notes.

Palate

The palate is the pure expression of a successful alliance between power and elegance. Full, the palate is marked by its fruity, liquorice and floral expression. Throughout the tasting experience, smooth and fine tannins are revealed before leading to a persistent and complex finish.

Storage

This McLaren Vale wine can be savoured now or be cellared until around 2028, enabling it to express its full range of aromas.
