Description

A Tuscan wine which unveils an intense and refreshing character

The estate

The Endrici family has been producing wine in the Trentino Alto-Adige region in Italy since 1885. The Serpaia di Endrizzi estate ranks among the best vineyards in northern Italy. The family devotes love and passion in equal parts to its vineyard. Today, the estate is run by two generations: the parents, Christine and Paolo Endrici, and their children, Lisa Maria and Daniele Endrici. Together, they make up the newest generation at Serpaia di Endrizzi. All of the estate’s wines are produced without any chemical fertilisers by way of respect for the environment and as part of a quest to achieve the highest quality. These Italian wines embody an expression of Italy and, above all, a warm and welcoming family spirit.

The vineyard

The estate is located at the heart of Tuscany, on the hills of Fonteblanda and near the city of Grosseto. This cuvée is influenced by the speckled silty soil in Galestro. Indeed, the brittle, marl-like rock is rich in nutrients and minerals, thus giving body and structure to the wine.

The wine

Serpaiolo gets its name from its land. Once believed to be nests for "serpaie" snakes by the inhabitants of The Maremma due to their hard and dry nature, the grounds already possessed important qualities and characteristics for winegrowing. Serpaiolo was the first creation of the Endrici family in Tuscany.

Winemaking and ageing

After manual harvests, where grapes were rigorously selected, the berries are taken to the cellar to begin a custom-made vinification process. Fermentation is carried out in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Subsequently, the wine is aged for 8 months in oak barrels and ages for some additional months in bottle in order to fully develop all of its nuances.

Blend

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese.

Tasting

Colour

Serpaiolo 2019 is a beautiful ruby red.

Nose

The aromatic bouquet reveals intense aromas alongside very subtle nuances of ripe fruit.

Palate

Serpaiolo 2019 is dry and refreshing at the same time, with a beautiful structure. Its full-bodied character harmonises wonderfully with its roundness.
