Bodega Burdigala was conceived during an encounter and from the passion and experience of two great names in the winemaking world, François Lurton, Michel Rolland and his wife Dany. They created the Bodega Burdigala for the new millennium in 2000 in DO Toro, located in the northwest of Spain, a region close to the Ribera del Duero. Their will was based on a common ambition: to reveal the wine potential of a region still relatively unknown, and to create a new Toro wine style inspired from know-how that made the reputation of Bordeaux wines and inspired from New World wines.
As Bodega Burdigala turned into a banner for wine, the first vintage produced in 2001, Campo Eliseo DO Toro, means "Champs Élysées" in French. Campo Alegre the followed in 2007, and named to emphasize the joy of a fast tempo.
As wines of character, they celebrate the expression of the DO Toro terroir through paying homage to the area’s symbolic grape varieties, including Tinta de Toro, a variant of the Spanish grape Tempranillo.
In a perfect combination of tradition, modernity and innovation, Bodega Burdigala is at the heart of great wines, which are true references for DO Toro appellation.
