Description
The Voluptuous Power of a Penfolds’ Australian Shiraz
The Penfolds Estate’ Kalimna Bin 28 is a superb example of a typical Australian Shiraz produced in a warm climate that shows ripe fruit, robustness, and an ample flavour profile. Released for the first time in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous Kalimna vineyard that is located in the heart of the Barossa Valley. Penfolds acquired this vineyard in 1945 where their grapes were originally sourced. Today, Kalimna Bin 28 blends grapes from different vineyards that results in a wide range of expressions from the Barossa Valley.
This wine reveals a deep colour purple with nuances of almost black highlights. The nose is intense and complex that offers notes of eucalyptus oil and sweet vanilla, which then evolve into delicate fruit cake aromas. As the wine becomes more aerated, animal notes of musk and leather appear. On the palate, there is an explosion of ripe black fruit and cherry flavours accompanied with soft, velvety tannins. This voluptuous wine is truly representative of its terroir and is a superb expression of the Australian Shiraz variety. It can be enjoyed now or kept until 2032
