Description
A Rioja red wine with a seductive freshness and aromatic richness
The estate
Founded in 1877 and one of the three oldest bodegas in La Rioja, Bodega Lopez de Heredia is a reference among the finest Spanish wines.
A rare family-run winery, Bodega Lopez de Heredia has been making great red and white wines for several generations, bringing out the potential and richness of the evolving La Rioja wine region.
The wines of the Bodega beam beyond the country’s borders for their complexity, their structure, their aromatic richness and their great ageing potential.
The vineyard
Bodega Lopez de Heredia reigns over 170 hectares of vines that are divided into 4 autonomous vineyards: Tondonia, Bosconia, Gravonia and Cubillo.
The vintage
2013 was a year marked by cool temperatures mixed with heavy rainfall and a hailstorm on 12 July. These difficult and persistent weather conditions, even late in the summer season, had a strong impact on the vineyard. This resulted in a delay in ripening, poor fruit set and a drop in yields. During the harvest, a rigorous selection process was carried out to ensure that only the best grapes were used to make this wine.
Vinification and ageing
This wine is aged for 3 years in barrels. 2 rackings are carried out each year.
The blend
This Vina Cubillo Crianza 2013 by Lopez de Heredia is a blend of Tempranillo (65%), Garnacha (25%), Mazuelo and Graciano.
