Description
A full-bodied biodynamic wine from Languedoc
The Domaine Leon Barral Tradition Barral 2014 is a superb biodynamic blend of 50% Carignan, 30% Grenache and 20% Cinsault from a 14-hectare vineyard (planted with 40-70 year old vines) in the Languedoc appellation of Faugeres. Maceration is carried out for 3 to 4 weeks with regular punch-downs in cement tanks, after which the must is pressed in a wooden basket press. The wine is then aged 2 years in cement and stainless steel tanks before bottling. Only native yeasts are used in the production of this wine.
In the glass the Tradition Barral 2014 from Domaine Leon Barral displays a deep ruby-red colour. The aromatic bouquet expresses cherry, damson fruit and violets, while the very concentrated palate unpacks flavours of cassis and wild strawberries, along with notes of black pepper. This wine offers a lengthy, pleasant finish with ripe tannins. This is a very focused and beautifully balanced wine.
