A complex yet balanced Peyrassol rosé

A “cuvée d'exception,” Clos Peyrassol was born with the 2009 vintage and only reproduced in the best vintages. It bears the name of Clos Peyrassol, one of the most beautiful parcels of Domaine Peyrassol, surrounded by low stone walls that form part of the area’s Templar buildings.

Perfectly balanced, the Clos Peyrassol 2017 rosé, produced in Côtes de Provence, perfectly illustrates the know-how and excellence of an estate with a centuries-old tradition, founded by the Templars over 800 years ago upon the rare soils of Provence.

The Clos Peyrassol 2017 rosé reveals the true character of the Mediterranean grape varieties planted in soils of clay-limestone with a high proportion of gravel. This complex blend includes 6 grape varieties (49% Cinsault, 15% Rolle, 12% Mourvèdre, 10% Tibouren 9% Grenache and 5% Syrah).

Classified among the greatest Crus of Provence, Domaine Peyrassol possesses a powerful know-how based on a long heritage of winemaking. Domaine Peyrassol manages its vineyards with practices of sustainable agriculture, minimising chemical treatments and planting between vine rows seedlings that favour the microbial life of the soil. The harvest at Domaine Peyrassol is done by hand to preserve the aromatic expression of the grape varieties. After a very selective sorting and de-stemming, the grapes are quickly pressed and added to stainless steel vats in order to preserve the freshness of their aromas. Each variety is matured separately, over a period of 4 months on fine lees, allowing the base wines to develop a roundness and complexity.

The 2017 vintage will be remembered as quite precocious, believed to have been an effect of the spring frost. The fruit was very limited in quantity but of extremely high quality. Under excellent sanitary conditions, the grapes reached optimal phenolic maturity, ensuring wines rich in aromas with great vivacity.

In the glass, the Château Peyrassol 2017 rosé displays a pale colour with silver highlights. On the nose, it reveals all the peculiarities of its vintage: the rich fruity notes of white-fleshed fruit (peach, pear and grape), as well as the freshness of citrus, underlining a powerful tension in the mouth. On the palate, the wine offers a beautiful frame, firm and structured with fine tannins, achieving the subtle balance of density and liveliness. The finish ends with an elegant hint of bitterness. A rosé of terroir, fresh and balanced.
