Château La Tour de Bessan 2016

A Margaux red wine from a great vintage

The Château La Tour de Bessan is a Cru Bourgeois wine produced in the Margaux appellation, which belongs to the Vignobles Marie-Laure Lurton. The vineyard, which covers an area of 28.6 hectares, is located on a terroir of Pyrenean gravel. The average age of the vines is about 25 years of age. The 2016 vintage boasts a blend of 77% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. The plot selection determines the type of vinification, and the desired wine determines maceration. Ageing takes place in oak barrels (30% new wood) over a varying period depending on the vintage.

The 2016 La Tour de Bessan has a dark, purplish colour. The wine initially offers fermented aromas, but once the glass is swirled, the wine reveals all the promise of its vintage with black fruit aromas. The palate is both soft and dense with present tannins. This wine had good cellaring potential.
