Description
A fine dry white wine from the Saint-Émilion terroir
The estate
A First Classified Growth of Saint-Émilion, Château Valandraud shines bright among the most beautiful estates of the appellation. This estate also produces a great dry white Bordeaux in very limited quantities.
The vineyard
The Château Valandraud vineyard stretches over 12 hectares of vines in production, planted in clay-limestone and siliceous-gravelly soils. 1.5 hectares of vines are dedicated to the production of Bordeaux dry white wine. The wines are aged 20 years on average. The white plantings are composed of sauvignon gris (50%), sauvignon blanc (40%) and sémillon (10%).
The winemaking
Manual harvested in 3 different passes, then kept cold before pressing in a pneumatic press.
The ageing
80% in new oak barrels, 20% in barrels of one previous wine.
