Alphonse Mellot : La Moussière 2011

The young Pinot Noir grapes of the Sancerre region of France's Loire Valley produce a refreshingly layered and tender wine in the Alphonse Mellot La Moussiere. With a fine, deep crimson robe the Alphonse Mellot La Moussiere is like biting into a ripe grape. The nose reflects both red and black fruit like raspberries, currents and cherries. These fruity notes are balanced with spicy notes of pepper and cinnamon and just a hint of warm vanilla. The mellow, well rounded and well structure palate is defined by a woody background, with mouthwatering fruit and spices, as well as a hint of heat.
