G.D. Vajra Wines : Key Points

While members of the Vajra family have lived in the hamlet of Vergne in the hills above Barolo, it wasn't until 1972 that Aldo Vajra along with his wife Milena officially founded the G.D. Vajra winery and bottled wines under the family's name for the first time. In the beginning, Aldo and Milena worked in the winery evenings and weekends while Aldo taught winemaking at university in Alba to pay the bills. Eventually they built up the estate to its current 40 hectares. G.D. Vajra is a true family business as Milena and Aldo have been joined in the cellars and vineyards by their children Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro - all of whom show the same pride and enthusiasm that their parents take in their work and the new family tradition.
