Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 from Penfolds : an Australian red wine with refreshing acidity
A Cabernet Sauvignon red wine produced in Australia, the Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon from Penfolds comes from various vineyards and appellations (McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Coonawarra, Wrattonbully, Barossa Valley). The wine is aged for 12 months, 26% in new French oak barrels and the rest in American hogshead oak barrels (12% new).
The Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 from Penfolds presents a brilliant garnet colour. The nose reveals aromas of spices combined with beetroot and blackcurrant. One can detect fragrances of Mediterranean meats mixed with notes of oak and tar. On the palate, this solid wine offers very present tannins and a refreshing acidity. It reveals flavours of black olives, pomegranates and slices of venison carpaccio. The Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 from Penfolds also offers tasty touches of cocoa powder, mocha, bitter chocolate and walnut shell. To be consumed before 2030.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 407 opens with notes of menthol, eucalyptus, blackcurrant cordial and black cherry pie plus underlying cedar, toast and dark chocolate hints. Full, generously fruited and wonderfully forward with firm tannins and lively acidity, it offers a beautiful expression of the best of South Australia Cabernet.
