At tasting, the Bin 128 Shiraz 2012 from Penfolds displays a shiny red plum colour. The nose gives off aromas of iced cherries and red jelly crystals mixed with notes of flowers, cedar, mint chocolate and Bircher-muesli. On the palate, the Bin 128 Shiraz 2012 from Penfolds is fresh and lively. The wine displays a nice acidity and flavours of pomegranate, kumquat and beetroot with tasty touches of camphor, menthol and spices. The magnificent and crisp tannins open onto a long finish with a beautiful aromatic persistence.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz shows a youthfully muted nose of black and red plums, mulberries plus hints of pepper, charcoal, damp earth and sage. The medium to full-bodied palate centers on a decent core of mid-palate fruit structured by medium levels of chewy tannins and lively acid. It finishes long. 5,110 bottles were made. Drink it now to 2020+.
