Description
A fine red wine from Fronsac
Produced on a 15 hectare vineyard, Chateau Dalem is a red wine produced in the Fronsac appellation. The vines are 38 years old, on average, and planted on a terroir that is composed of clay, limestone, and molasses from Fronsac. The grape varieties produced are 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in barrels (50% are new).
The weather in 2016 was quite unexpected. After a mild winter, buds sprouted early, spring brought high levels of precipitation. This precipitation slowed down development of the wine. Flowering occurred at the beginning of June after a period of good weather. Summer was warm and dry, but the terroir allowed the grapes to reach maturation without any complications. The grapes finished developing until the harvest, which took place from October 7th - 28th.
Chateau Dalem 2016 is brilliant, a wine with great depth and incomparable finesse, thanks to the beautiful grapes produced using environmentally friendly viticulture.
