The launch of a new vintage champagne from the Champagne House Salon is always quite an event. It is a new explosion of aromas and freshness, unique yet, still true to the splendid and elegant style of Salon champagnes. It is unique thanks to its grape variety : Chardonnay, its terroir: Côte des Blancs and its cru: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The year 2002 is the first vintage of the century by Salon. This champagne is a piece of art: it has a sparkling golden robe with green glints, in a fine and abundant effervescence. Salon 2002 is fascinating by it subtle aromatic palette and its chalky minerality, but also by its white flower, brioche and salty frangrances. After a slight airing, one can notice soft notes of slightly honeyed orange blossom, candied citrus and just baked French pastries. This champagne is sharp, precise and balanced. Its fine and creamy bubbles satisfy the palate through a beautiful voluptuousness while the finish is long and frank, nervous and restrained. Salon 2002 has time to spare and its exceptional savours will develop, mature and elate.
