A deep ruby, almost opaque in its concentration. The nose of 2007 Coniale is ultra-complex, delivering inebriating draughts of wild blackberry, raspberry, redcurrant, dried plum, dates, and wild red berry fruit, delicately lifted by floral impressions of sweetbriar and violets. A persistent freshness complements a suite of silky tannins, and both contribute to a palate that is notable for its warmth and roundedness. A finely-balanced, leisurely progression culminates in a lengthy, subtly-aromatic finish.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2007 Coniale, the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon, is, oddly enough, a more accessible wine than the Merlot. Sweet, silky tannins support a core of expressive red fruit, flowers and spices. This is a pretty, understated wine that makes up for some lack of varietal typicity with its terrific balance and undeniably attractive personality. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
