2014 Margaux, Second Wine from Chateau d’Issan
September brought with it an exceptional Indian summer (dry warm weather). Thus, the grapes reached optimum ripeness while preserving a really good sanitarian state of the grapes on Margaux appelation. However, the property still proceeded in a rigorous grape selection in order to obtain the best result. This year, as for the great wine (Chateau d'Issan), the Cabernet Sauvignon proportion is higher : 65% and 35% Merlot. The 2014 Blason d'Issan from Chateau d'Issan offers a vibrant black fruit (blackcurrant and blackberry) with a lovely crispiness. Frank and precise, the palate reveals pleasant, elegant tannins with a delicious silky touch. The wine carries a blackberry retro-olfaction with a truly fresh finish.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The Blason d'Issan 2014 has a light, rather clay-scented bouquet that needs to show a little more precision, even for a deuxième vin. The nose is medium-bodied with slightly brittle tannin and needs to develop a little more flesh on the finish. This needs to raise its game by the time of bottling.
