2011 Pommard 1er Cru
Domaine du Pavillon 1er Cru vineyard is located in the town of Pommard, famous for producing robust and tannic wines. The 2011 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens reveals a raspberry-tinted, deep ruby colour. The nose is powerful and elegant with commanding red fruits scents, followed by very blended smoked-wood. The palate is superbly long, very dense, with distinguished tannins.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The oak is too dominant on the nose of the Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens from Domaine du Pavillon and consequently it is difficult to discern the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, smooth and rounded, quite plush in the mouth, with plenty of creamy oak toward the finish that renders it a little charmless. Punters Burgundy perhaps - but no more.
